Mary Margaret Heron D.O.M.P., is a graduate of the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto (2006), which teaches the traditional Osteopathic Manual training that Dr. Still developed. She completed her thesis study in 2009 (The Effects of Local Osteopathic Treatment From the Cranium to T3, on Visual Acuity in Patients with Myopia). Her previous training in Massage Therapy (Sutherland and Chan, Toronto, 1992) brings an awareness of body adaptation and dysfunction that may occur with injuries, overuse syndromes, and poor posture.
Today her practise is Manual Osteopathy, focusing on head injuries, concussions, postural misalignments, visceral manipulation and chronic pain. The focus of her work is to find the source of the dysfunction and to restore normal balance and well being. She understands and works with the viscera, the deep fascial and dural systems, which are often the anchors to chronic dysfunction. She enjoys working with pregnant mothers throughout the entire pregnancy to improve alignment and address any discomfort as the pregnancy advances. She is also available for hospital visits in the downtown Toronto core, focusing on post surgical and postpartum treatment, as well as palliative and end of life care.
Her background in amateur sports includes speed skating, rowing and long distant running. Her martial arts studies includes Karate, Aikido and Iaido (Japanese Sword) for 22 years. Presently she practises Iyengar Yoga, Kriya Yoga, meditation and is currently exploring energy and intuitive long distance body healing.
Outside of work she is an artist, presently doing commission work in graphite portraiture. Her education in art includes graphic design (Conestoga College) and jewellery making (Ontario College of Art and Design). She loves travelling and spending time outdoors. She is dedicated to the conservation of the environment and spent 3 summers bee keeping with a charity in Georgetown.
She is currently a member of the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners. She continues to enhance her manual Osteopathy practise with ongoing education with courses in Biodynamics, Mechanical Link, Endocranial Spasms, Concussions, and Chronic Pain Disorders.
She loves her work and is dedicated to helping people find balance and live life without pain.
